New York: Drawings by Arranz
Opening April 27, 2017 at 8:00 p.m.
From 27 April to 20 May
I have always felt the instinctive need to draw whatever surrounds me. Since the 1980s I have unknowingly become a “city sketcher”. Getting published in Madriz Magazine reaffirmed this definition and so I go on… until even today.
More than 25 years of sketching in the newspaper El País served as an apprenticeship to highlight the value of communication through drawing.
Today, I travel around the world drawing, like a stroller, drifting about, leaving to chance to capture the heartbeats of the city. Evoking the maximum with the minimum.
In June 2016 I travelled to New York. A wish fulfilled.
I found the city so exciting and energetic full of energy that I spent the last year drawing all the images I had retained in my mind.
In this exhibition I present more than 50 small format originals, a summary of the multitude of vibrations received after several days aimlessly traipsing a city that belongs to the world.
New York is energy and tolerance, a city that is free and open to the senses. Transmitting the experience of the City is the objective of this exhibition.
